WELLNESS PROTOCOLS
If you are currently experiencing symptoms of illness, such as a cold or flu, I kindly request that you reschedule your appointment. This is the one instance where sharing may not be the best thing to do.
***CURL PREPARATION***
Let's get those curls session ready!! 1. The wash and detangle (1-2 days before) CLARIFY & DETANGLE: Give your curls some love with a sulphate free clarifying shampoo or an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse (quesions on this, please let me know). Completely remove ALL TANGLES during this wash. Additional charges may apply for extensive detangling or you may be asked to reschedule if necessary. DRY: Arrive with BONE dry hair. This ensures your curls maintain their true shape and prevents cutting off too much length. 2. Styling (morning of or day before) STYLING: Style your curls down (not pulled back in anyway -no bobbie pins, pony tails or buns etc.) and as if you are going on a date using your favorite styling products. This will allow me to see exactly where you are on your curl journey. PRODUCTS TO AVOID: Please do not use any products that will make your curls too stiff, sticky or oily. 3. What to wear PHOTO READY: We'll be taking before and after photos at your first curl session, please wear a solid earth toned top that is a different color than your hair. We can totally angle you just right if you'd rather your face didn't show in the photos.
LATE CANCELLATION /
MISSED APPOINTMENT
Your appointment is reserved especially for you. Should you need to cancel or change the date of your appointment, I request a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for all services. If less than the proper notice is given, a $50 fee or half of the service amount (whichever is greater) will be due by credit card or Venmo before your next appointment is booked. “No Call/ No-Shows” are no bueno, make me very sad and will be charged 100% of the scheduled service amount. Please be courteous to your stylist and other clients by giving ample notice to cancel.
PUNCTUALITY
If it looks like you might be arriving late, please let me know as best you can as we may need to reschedule. I try my best to stay on schedule and avoid long waiting periods for you, sometimes it's not possible due to unforeseen circumstances. If there is a delay, I will also do my best to let you know and reschedule your appointment if necessary.
CELL PHONES
Kindly switch your phone to silent mode and answer calls only if it's important. I will do the same.

PLEASE, NO CHILDREN UNLESS THEY ARE RECEIVING A SERVICE. Please leave your little ones at home with a family member or sitter when coming for your appointment. Thank you for understanding. **My studio is quite small, please refrain from bringing multiple friends and/or family members with you to your appointment.

Frequently Asked Curl Questions
This is the necessary FACQ page where you’ll find answers to the questions that have been eating away at that big beautiful curly brain of yours.
PREVISIT:
What's the best way to contact you?
Email or text is preferred. You may text me at 832-373-4540 for all communications the day of your appointment.
May I schedule a color service with my haircut?
I am no longer accepting hair color clients.
Is there anything that I'll want to purchase prior to my first appointment?
Yes, you'll want to purchase a satin pillowcase and/or a satin bonnet, a hand mirror and flour sack towels. All can be found on Amazon but I personally prefer Walmart for the flour sack towels.
Where are you located?
I am located inside Salons by JC at 2650 Pearland Parkway suite 196. There are two Salons by JC in Pearland, make sure you go to the correct one
ONLINE SCHEDULING:
How do I create an account for the online booking portal?
Once your session pre-visit form has been received, you'll receive a link to the online booking portal.
How do I reset my password?
Please email me and I can take care of that for you.
I'm a returning client and when I try to set up an online account it tells me that my email address is already in use.
Please let me know and I'll take care of that for you.
AT MY APPOINTMENT:
What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit card, Venmo, cash, Zelle and Laura McGraw Hair Studio gift cards are all welcome.
Will I be able to take home the products that you recommend?
Yes ma'am, I do my best to maintain a full inventory of the products that I suggest.
AFTER MY APPOINTMENT:
What's the best way to preserve my beautiful curls for sleeping?
This is where the satin pillowcase and/or satin bonnet come into play. Either one or both are imperative for achieving multiple day curls. Without them, your curls will most likely be a hot mess when you wake up.
How can I protect my curls in the shower?
The Buff works great as a means for getting your hair into a satin bonnet.
I like to work out. What is the best way to preserve curls during my workout?
The Invisibobble works good for getting your hair off of you without oddly kinking your curls. Or a simple sweat band can work too (my tool of choice).
Is multiple day hair possible, and if so, how?
Yes ma'am, it most certainly is, IF you nail day one hair! This will almost guarantee very good multiple day hair.
GENERAL:
I like to go back and forth wearing my hair curly and straight. Can this type of haircut be worn on straight hair?
As a curl advocate, my main focus in the studio is teaching women how to make healthier choices for their curls by showing curl encouraging techniques, how to choose healthier products and giving you a haircut that is designed for hair that is worn curly most if not all of the time. This method of hair cutting is not guaranteed on hair when it is worn straight. Follow me on Pinterest for a variety of ways to wear your curls, even for formal events!
What type of curls are welcome?
All curls are treated equally with love and hydration at Laura McGraw Hair Studio. I enjoy working with all types of texture from swavy/ wavy to the tightest little precious coils.
